The short version
DoctorNoise asks you to put your phone on a washing machine and leave it there while the machine runs. A machine at spin speed shakes hard, and a phone can slide off it. It names a likely cause from sound and vibration — it is not a certified diagnosis and does not replace a technician.
Read “How to use it safely” below before you start. Following those rules is a condition of using the app, and damage that happens because they were not followed is not something we can be responsible for.
How to use it safely
These are the rules of use for this app. They are short because they are meant to be read.
- Lay the phone flat on the machine’s top panel, with no part of it overhanging any edge, and nothing under it that can slide.
- Keep it away from water — taps, hoses, detergent drawers, a wet worktop.
- Clear the floor beside the machine of anything you would mind breaking, and expect the phone to move during the spin.
- Keep children and pets away from the machine while a test is running.
- Do not put the phone on a machine that is already walking, rocking or unstable, or on one that is not standing level. Fix that first.
- Do not open the machine, and do not attempt any repair the app describes unless you are qualified to do it. Disconnect power and water before anyone works on it.
- Use it only on a domestic appliance you are entitled to use, in a place where you are entitled to make a recording.
If any of these is not possible where you are, do not use the app that way. Nothing in it requires you to.
What the app does, and what it does not
- It is not a certified diagnosis and does not replace an inspection by a qualified technician. Have any finding confirmed before you pay for a repair or replace a machine.
- It cannot see inside the machine, measure electrical faults, or detect anything it cannot hear.
- When it is not confident enough it says so and charges nothing. A result it does give you is still a probability, not a certainty.
- Repair prices are indicative — collected quotes with the date they were collected. They are not an offer, a quote, or a promise of what anyone will charge you.
- It is not a safety device. If a machine smells of burning, leaks, or trips a breaker, stop using it and call someone — do not run a test.
Your risk, and our responsibility
By running a test you accept the ordinary risk of placing your own phone on a vibrating machine: that it may move, fall, and be damaged. That risk is yours, and it is why the rules above exist and why the app repeats them on the screen before every test.
We are not liable for damage that results from not following the rules of use above. Nor are we liable for the cost of work you chose to have done, or equipment you chose to replace, on the strength of a result the app itself describes as an indication rather than a certainty.
Where we are liable, indirect and consequential loss is excluded and our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app.
What these limits do not touch
Some liability cannot be limited by an agreement like this one, and this section does not attempt it. Nothing above limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for intent or gross negligence, or any liability that the law of your country of residence does not permit to be excluded — including your rights as a consumer, and, in the European Union, liability under the Product Liability Directive, which expressly may not be excluded or limited by contract.
If any part of this section is held unenforceable where you live, the rest of it still applies and that part is read down to whatever the law does allow.
Paying for it
The recording, the live spectrum and the first look at what stands out are free, and so is the verdict when there is nothing to repair. The full verdict is a single one-time purchase that covers every check on your phone, past and future. There is no subscription. The purchase is made through the app store, not from us directly, so refunds are handled by the store under its own policy, and its terms apply to the transaction. If the app failed to do what it promised, write to us as well — that is a defect we want to know about.
On iPhone and iPad the app is licensed to you under the App Store’s own standard licence terms, which apply alongside these; where the two differ about the licence to use the app itself, the store’s terms govern that licence. Apple does not provide the app and is not responsible for it — support is ours, at the address below.
Your data
Your recordings are analysed on the phone and are never uploaded — not to us, not to anyone. There is no account and no server of ours. What the app handles and where it stays is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Which law applies
The app is sold worldwide, so this section says what it can and does not pretend otherwise. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, including your rights against the seller of record in your own market, and nothing here takes that away or moves where you can bring a claim. Otherwise these terms are governed by the law of Israel.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and the updated text is published on this page before the release that relies on it.
